After 23 years FEGS has now been renamed TranscenData Europe Limited, and the Oakington office has become the European headquarters for the new organisation
The restructuring process at FEGS's parent company, International TechneGroup (ITI), has been completed with the formal rebranding of the Product Data Interoperability (PDI) group as a new business unit called TranscenData. The move means that after 23 years FEGS has now been renamed TranscenData Europe Limited, and the Oakington office has become the European headquarters for the new organisation.

ITI TranscenData's CADfix tackles the ever present problems of 3D model data exchange and re-use between different engineering software applications
As a result, TranscenData Europe's customers will have access to a wider range of data interoperability tools, complementing the core CADfix solution.
The formation of TranscenData was designed to enable ITI to refocus its range of data interoperability products - including CADfix - into a series of three solution lines, each incorporating products, services and strategic partnerships.
'TranscenData solutions overcome challenging data interoperability problems, thereby raising the value of a customer's engineering product data,' says Don Hemmelgarn, President of the TranscenData division of ITI.
'With the launch of TranscenData Europe we will offer our full range of interoperability solutions to customers across Europe.' CADfix, the product data translation, healing and repair tool that has been the main focus of FEGS's business since it was developed in the mid 1990s, will now form part of TranscenData's CAD/CAM/CAE (C3) Systems Integration unit.
It will be offered in parallel with ITI's other solutions, including CADIQ (for model data integrity and quality testing), IGESworks (for 2D and 3D IGES file flavouring), DEXcenter (automated CAD model translation and exchange), PDElib (translator developer toolkit) and CADscript (providing multi CAD, platform independent programming interfaces).

John Meaney, head of sales and marketing at TranscenData Europe comments: 'TranscenData's range of effective interoperability software offers engineers today a distinct competitive advantage.
Reading, writing and transforming non-native data will no longer be a headache as we have a solution readily available for all problems encountered.' TranscenData will be offering these products not only as packaged, stand-alone tools, but also as components in more comprehensive tailor-made solutions.
Using the power of DEXcenter, TranscenData will work with its customers to deliver automated solutions to common interoperability problems and to promote best practice data exchange methods and management across enterprises and into the supply chain.
This consultancy-based offering will form the core of TranscenData's new Engineering supply chain Integration unit.
In addition, TranscenData will continue to forge partnerships with other software vendors to enable more customers to take advantage of its powerful interoperability technology.
This will mean more OEM deals with CAD/CAM/CAE and PDM software suppliers who need data import and export tools; although many of the users may not know it, TranscenData's technology is already in use in a huge and growing number of software installations.
Geoff Butlin, founder of FEGS and now CEO of TranscenData Europe concludes: 'For TranscenData Europe this marks the beginning of a new and exciting era.
The success that FEGS has seen over the past 23 years and the impact that CADfix continues to have on the CAD/CAM/CAE industry both point to interesting times ahead for TranscenData Europe.'

Faster conversion of scanned drawings to DXF
The low cost software for converting scanned paper drawings to DXF, Scan2CAD Pro, is now up to three times faster at vectorizing and has Command Line operation
If you need to convert scanned paper drawings to DXF so you can edit them in your CAD program, Scan2CAD Pro is your solution. With indispensible features like the ability to scan large D/E/A1/A0-size drawings on small scanners by tiling, Scan2CAD v6 Pro was described as 'outstanding', 'astonishingly powerful' and a 'great bargain' by Cadalyst Magazine (July 2001).

Now we've made it even better by releasing Scan2CAD Pro Version 6.1.
Version 6.1 is fast! It's up to three times faster at vectorizing than v6.
Version 6.1 has a Command Line, which means that you can now run Scan2CAD Pro from inside other applications.
The command line allows virtually any Scan2CAD Pro function to be automated and allows you to do batch tasks, like convert files from one raster format to another, despeckle and clean raster images in bulk or convert them from raster to vector.
Version 6.1 adds a simpler method for vectorizing color images quickly.
And, as a result of user requests the default load and save directories have been changed and new shortcut keys and a unify text height command have been added.
We listen to users! A demo of Scan2CAD Pro is available from www.rastertovector.com.
We encourage you to evaluate Scan2CAD Pro - and rival products.
If you do, you will find that Scan2CAD gives results as good as or better than other raster to vector converters - a claim substantiated by Scan2CAD's Five Star Rating in Cadalyst alongside Autodesk's CAD Overlay, GTX, Rasterex and VPStudio.
(All trademarks acknowledged.) As Cadalyst said, Scan2CAD Pro 'debunks the cliche about getting what you pay for'.
It costs just 249 US dollars or 149 UK pounds.
Technical support is free of charge and there are video tutorials to guide you through the program - it's just like having someone standing by you telling you what to do! 'Not only is this the most excellent program, but the level of (free) support is second to none and the video tutorials make learning a real pleasure', said Philip Deverill, Scan2CAD Pro user.

Half-price offer for Autocad mapping plug-in
For a limited time, Uclid Software is offering the Autocad 2000 plug-in version of its award-winning cadastral mapping software at nearly half the usual price
Older technologies force a user to choose between converting a document quickly or preserving its original accuracy.
IcoMap uses a patented technology, pioneered by UCLID, called Mathematical Content Recognition to provide the best of both worlds.
Users have documented up to 600% efficiency gains using this technology compared to their current methods.
But IcoMap is much more than just Mathematical Content Recognition.
This latest release incorporates an entire suite of tools that simplify nearly all data conversion processes and allow IcoMap to work with all types and qualities of paper land records.
This is the only product available devoted exclusively to making data conversion faster, easier, and more accurate, said Curt Szymanski, CEO of Uclic Software.
IcoMap V2.2 contains every tool needed to take a parcel mapping project from start to finish.
Plus, it's so easy to use that new users can learn the software in as little as thirty minutes.
GIS professionals and surveyors working on large parcel mapping projects stand to benefit the most from using IcoMap.
Anyone currently converting documents using digitizing or COGO will see dramatic results using IcoMap.
The product delivers the speed of digitizing with the survey-accuracy of COGO - the best of both worlds, said Szymanski.
Additional features completely automate closure, allowing data generated with IcoMap to easily integrate with popular Geographic Information Systems.
IcoMap V2.2 is available as a plug-in application for AutoCAD, and also as a standalone application for Windows 95, 98 and Windows NT.
